Pastoral Change Readiness
 |
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross performed a great
service in making us aware of the stages of grief. The study of grief took
its next leap forward when we realized that the stages she identified were not
nearly as neatly differentiated or chronologically ordered as first thought.
Most ministry professionals have come to understand that there is a grieving
process which follows the departure of a pastor. “Rules of Thumb” like one
month of interim for each year of service have become commonplace. The
reality is, of course, more complicated. Variables such as the Biblical
Worldview of the congregation, relationship with the departing pastor, breadth
and depth of lay leadership, and many more, impact readiness for pastoral
change. This consultation will assess those variables and provide
recommendations for the necessary next steps. |
