ChurchTech Consults will continue Dr. Miller's
consulting work on topics related to technology and ministry. Every
consultation is customized to the unique ministry setting of the client church.
We can also create a specialized consultation for your specific technology
challenge. It is important to note that we don't sell equipment - the solutions that we recommend are based on your needs - not what we
have to sell.
We offer several specific consultations:
 | General Technology Consultation
 | This is our most comprehensive technology consultation. It
covers all of the computers at the church, the general and church
specific software, the printers, the network
connections, internet access, the website, and the inventory of Audio-Visual
equipment. The required questionnaire also benefits the
congregation as a record for insurance purposes. |
|
 | Pre-Construction Consultation
 | Consider how long it will take to pay for your new
building or renovation. Consider how much longer you will use the new
facilities. Now, consider how much technology will probably change in
that window of time. This consultation will help you to avoid costly
mistakes and insure that your facility will not be obsolete before it opens. |
|
 | Power-Point-Preaching Consultation
 |
Many congregations are making the
move to preaching enhanced by text, graphics, and video on a big screen.
What hardware and software would your church need to make this work? What
would it all cost? Is your preacher ready to make this change? We will
help you answer these questions. |

Church buildings are expensive. They
have an important purpose, so spending what is needed makes sense. But are
there ways to trim your building cost AND get a better building? Using
simple designs, widely available donated materials, and selective volunteer
labor, Pastor Miller has saved one congregation over $500,000 (and upgraded
from fluorescent strip lights to crystal chandeliers)! |

 |
Are you in a leadership position of a
synod, diocese, district, conference, or a presbytery? These are
challenging days for judicatories. Work demands remain while congregations
increasingly question the value and relevance of your work. Being aware of
the range of technology issues confronting congregations heightens your
perceived value to them. Harnessing technology like GIS mapping allows you
to deliver more services that are perceived as relevant. |

 |
Every year the pastors complete and
forward the required statistical report. Then what? How critically are
those reports analyzed? Are they used
every year for
every
congregation to empower and challenge your congregations to greater
missional effectiveness? We will help you to develop a streamlined system
to review graphed data for selected variables which is shared with each
congregation along with brief words of encouragement and challenge. We will
help you design a process for you and design an automated system to create
your graphs and forms. |

Pastoral
Change Readiness
 |
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross performed a
great service in making us aware of the stages of grief. The study of grief
took its next leap forward when we realized that the stages she identified
were not nearly as neatly differentiated or chronologically ordered as first
thought. Most ministry professionals have come to understand that there is
a grieving process which follows the departure of a pastor. “Rules of
Thumb” like one month of interim for each year of service have become
commonplace. The reality is, of course, more complicated. Variables such
as the Biblical Worldview of the congregation, relationship with the
departing pastor, breadth and depth of lay leadership, and many more, impact
readiness for pastoral change. This consultation will assess those
variables and provide recommendations for the necessary next steps. |
